Suzaku observations of Markarian 335: evidence for a distributed reflector
We report on a 151-ks net exposure Suzaku observation of the narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy Mrk 335. The 0.5–40 keV spectrum contains a broad Fe line, a strong soft excess below about 2 keV and a Compton hump around 20–30 keV. We find that a model consisting of a power law and two reflectors provides the best fit to the time-averaged spectrum. In this model, an ionized, heavily blurred, inner ref...
متن کاملSuzaku observations of ‘bare’ active galactic nuclei
We present an X-ray spectral analysis of a large sample of 25 ‘bare’ active galactic nuclei (AGN), sources with little or no complicating intrinsic absorption, observed with Suzaku. Our work focuses on studying the potential contribution from relativistic disc reflection and examining the implications of this interpretation for the intrinsic spectral complexities frequently displayed by AGN in ...
متن کاملSuzaku Observations of the Circinus Galaxy
We report Suzaku observations of the active, Compton-thick Circinus galaxy. Observations were obtained with both the X-ray Imaging spectrometer (XIS) and the Hard X-ray Detector (HXD). Below 10 keV, the nuclear spectrum is dominated by radiation reflected from cold dense gas of high column density, while above 13 keV the radiation is directly transmitted nuclear emission seen through a column d...
متن کاملXMM − Newton observations of Markarian 421 ?
The BL Lac object Mrk 421 was observed on May 25, 2000 during the XMM−Newton Cal/PV phase. The high throughput of the X-ray telescopes and the spectral capabilities of the instruments allow an uninterrupted temporal and spectral study of the source with unprecedented time resolution. Mrk 421 was found at a relatively high state with a 2−6 keV flux of (1.3−1.9)×10−10 erg cm−2 s−1. The observed i...
متن کاملBeppoSAX observations of the quasar Markarian 205
We present the first BeppoSAX observation (0.1 to 220 keV) of the quasar Mrk 205. We have searched for the unusual Fe line profile claimed in the XMM-Newton spectrum which has been widely discussed in recent literature. We find no evidence for a broad, ionized Fe line component in our data. We detect for the first time a Compton hump in this object. Besides, when this component is included in t...
